ABSTRACT

Feline Astrovirus (FAstV), Feline Parvovirus(FPV) and Feline Enteric Coronavirus (FECoV) are important pathogens causing diarrhea in cats.In order to establish a molecular detection method which can differentiate the three pathogens in the same PCR system, an FAstV/FPV/FECoV triple PCR method was established with optimized primer concentrations and annealing temperature, and specificity, sensitivity and repeatability were tested. The results showed that the PCR method could only identify FAstV (320 bp), FPV (468 bp) and FECoV (664 bp) genes, while not other canine and feline related pathogens. The detection limits of FAstV, FPV and FECoV were 2x10~7 copy/L (7.1 pg/L),4.7x10~6 copy/L (2.4 pg/L) and 7x10~6 copy/L (5.1 pg/L) respectively. The established triple PCR method was used to detect 207 cat fecal samples collected in Chengdu from 2019 to 2020, including 141 diarrhea samples and 66 clinical health samples. The detection rates of FAstV, FPV and FECoV were 24.15% (50/207), 37.20% (77/207) and 15.46% (32/207) respectively, and the co-infection rates of FAstV/FPV, FPV/FECoV and FAstv/FECoV were 9.18%,6.28% and 6.28% respectively. In conclusion, the triple PCR method of FAstV/FPV/FECoV was successfully established, and could be applied for virus detection and epidemiological investigation.

ABSTRACT

Just as the smell gets diluted by ventilation, the dangerous concentration of the virus can also get reduced by ensuring appropriate amount of outdoor air flows in. In closed and stale space droplets and aerosol gets quickly concentrated and greatly increases the risk of transmission of virus in that area. Visit to any nearby shopping malls, newly furnished coaching classes, modern residential buildings, government offices, hotels, restaurants and even hospitals shows that they are nothing but an assortment of closed and unventilated spaces. These closed space acts as Super spreader of the virus. Peak test positive rate of 22.6% per hundred test is observed during the month of May, which is a result of high humidity particulate matter concentration temperature CO2 concentration.

ABSTRACT

After the large-scale vaccination of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19), the traditional manual registration cannot track each vaccine from production to vaccination, as well as the vaccinators. It is easy to cause the lack and omission of registration information, and is not conducive to analyze the data of large-scale vaccine and vaccination. Therefore, this paper uses the front-end and back-end separated patterns with front-end using Vue and Elment-UI technology, and back-end using SpringBoot and Mybatis-Plus framework. It designs and realizes the whole-process management system of novel coronavirus vaccine, from vaccine logistics and vaccine warehousing management, to vaccination and post-vaccination tracking, and then to the forum management of vaccinators. The system aims to achieve "whole-process, traceable" management goal of vaccines. The system is feasible and practical, which can alleviate the problem of manual recording and collation of medical staff in vaccine management, and provide a convenient and information-based vaccination platform for medical staff and vaccinators. In addition, the system can collect the data on the whole process of vaccines and provide strong data support for scientific research work.

ABSTRACT

This article highlights the diffusion of the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe at continental scales and within continents at national scales. Using raw metrics (cumulative deaths and population) and per capita metrics (cumulative deaths per million of population) collected from April 2020 to 31 December 2021, results showed that Europe, North America, and South America had reached a relatively high evenness of spread. However, in Asia and Africa, a much larger concentration exists in a few areas. It is possible that in these two continental regions, there is not only poor connectivity, which offers natural barriers to transmission, but also high levels of undercounting.

ABSTRACT

Coronaviruses have a high evolutionary capacity which has led to their very large genetic diversity. Their prevalence in nature is very high and they can infect a wide spectrum of hosts including mammals (including humans) and birds. To date, six porcine coronaviruses have been identified. Two of which were responsible for severe epizootics in pigs with a major impact in the global swine industry in the 60's to 80's for porcine transmissible gastroenteritis virus and since the 2010's in China and 2014 in North America for porcine epidemic diarrhoea virus. The latter has also become the third most important pathogen for pigs in China after the African swine fever virus and the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus. This review summarizes the latest developments in scientific knowledge of these porcine coronaviruses.

Background and Aim: The objective of this study was to determine the seroepidemiological history of SARS-CoV-2 infection among asymptomatic children in Tehran. Materials and Methods: Blood samples of children younger than 14 years old were collected during the period autumn-winter 2020 and spring 2021 and tested for SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody using the EUROIMMUN ELISA kit. In addition, questionnaires were used to collect demographic and infection status information in the participants. Data were analyzed using the SPSS software.

ABSTRACT

The coronavirus pandemic has starkly demonstrated the need to create highly effective vaccines against various viral diseases. The emerging new platforms for vaccine creation (adenovirus vectors and mRNA vaccines) have shown their worth in the fight against the prevention of coronavirus infection. However, adenovirus vectors and mRNA vaccines have a serious disadvantage: as a rule, only the S protein of the coronavirus is presented as an antigen. This tactic for preventing infection allows the ever-mutating virus to escape quickly from the immunity protection provided by such vaccines. Today, viral genomic databases are well-developed, which makes it possible to create new vaccines on a fundamentally new post-genomic platform. In addition, the technology for the synthesis of nucleic acids is currently experiencing an upsurge in demand in various fields of molecular biology. The accumulated experience suggests that the unique genomic sequences of viruses can act as antigens that trigger powerful humoral and cellular immunity. To achieve this effect, the following conditions must be created: the structure of the nucleic acid must be single-stranded, have a permanent 3D nanostructure, and have a unique sequence absent in the vaccinated organism. Oligonucleotide vaccines are able to resist the rapidly changing genomic sequences of RNA viruses by using conserved regions of their genomes to generate a long-term immune response, acting according to the adage that a diamond cuts a diamond. In addition, oligonucleotide vaccines will not contribute to antibody-dependent enhanced infection, since the nucleic acid of the coronavirus is inside the viral particle. It is obvious that new epidemics and pandemics caused by RNA viruses will continue to arise periodically in the human population. The creation of new, safe, and effective platforms for the production of vaccines that can flexibly change and adapt to new subtypes of viruses is very urgent and at this moment should be considered as a strategically necessary task.

Background/aim: The aim of this study is to analyze and compare the predictive values of the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) and Creatinine Index (CI) in the short-term mortality of maintenance hemodialysis patients and to determine their best cut-offs. Material and Methods: A total of 169 adult hemodialysis patients were included in this retrospective, cross-sectional, and single-center study. The demographic, clinical, and laboratory data of the month in which the patients were included in the study were obtained from their medical files and computer records. All-cause death was the primary outcome of the study during a 12-month follow-up after baseline GNRI and CI calculations.

ABSTRACT

Background/aim: As SARS-CoV-2 continues to spread worldwide, this study brings to light the link that anakinra, a recombinant IL-1 receptor antagonist, has in averting grave clinical outcomes. The objectives of this meta-analysis are to investigate the effects of anakinra in interventional groups compared to control/standard of care groups on mortality along with the provision of a prevalence estimate of the variables associated with death (C-reactive protein-CRP, ferritin, acute respiratory distress syndrome-ARDS). Materials and methods: According to the PRISMA 2020 statement guidelines, a systematic search was conducted from December 19, 2020, until December 10, 2021, with keywords including COVID-19, coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, anakinra, mortality, across the following databases: PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL Plus, and Cochrane. A random-effects model was applied using RevMan 5.4 for all statistical analyses.

ABSTRACT

Lost learning during a pandemic causes students' learning outcomes to drop. An alternative solution to the child's learning problem is learning with modules. Learning modules suitable for elementary school students need to be developed. Therefore, the study aimed to: (1) Discover the condition of elementary school students learning during the pandemic period;(2) Investigate the importance of independent learning;(3) Examine the use of modules as a supporting tool;(4) Delivering module illustration that can be developed for students. Furthermore, this study used a qualitative method with a phenomenology approach, and elementary school students, parents, and teachers serve as informants. The data were collected by interview and document, using the citation technique known as snowball citation, while the data was analyzed using data triangulation. The following conclusions were drawn: (1) Students felt uncomfortable learning during the pandemic;(2) Independent learning was important for elementary school students;(3) All parents agreed that the module could facilitate independent learning during the pandemic period;(4) The module illustration developed for elementary school students was completed by examples or real-life application. In cooperation with relevant individuals, the learner can make the decisions necessary to meet their learning needs and comprises internal and external components. Reflective skills are a combination of the learner's cognitive, metacognitive, and affective abilities, which we will refer to as their "internal components." The learner's "external environment" refers to the learning facility, time available, and peer and facilitator interaction. It contained learning material, objectives, question model, and evaluation and was understandable, attractive, and pleasing to learn. Also, this was completed by video link, adapted to the learning needs, and contained character development.

ABSTRACT

Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome requiring invasive mechanical ventilation may occur in COVID-19 patients. Barotrauma causes clinically severe pneumothorax, necessitating a chest tube thoracostomy. Acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 is aerosolized during the process, hence specific precautions must be taken to minimize exposure risks to health care workers. Objectives: The objective of the study to diagnosis of Tube thoracostomy during the COVID-19 pandemic to detect and diagnose patients who are positive with the virus. Material & Methods: In Bangladesh, researchers from a tertiary care hospital's thoracic surgery section did a retrospective analysis. In total, we had 34 participants. All COVID-19 cases requiring thoracic surgery consultation and management that were admitted to the ICU between July 2020 and January 2022 were included in this study. Iatrogenic pneumothorax and other critical cases not associated with COVID-19 were also eliminated.

ABSTRACT

For the past two years, the globe has been in deep despair as a result of the fast spread of the new Coronavirus, SARS CoV-2, and several of its variations such as Delta, Omicron, and others. This pandemic has caused widespread rumours and misconceptions, wreaking havoc on the worldwide health-care system. Due to the periodic outbreaks of this infectious disease, along with the administration of effective antiviral vaccines and adherence to mandatory government protocols, every human being's recourse has been to strengthen their immunity to resist this infectious disease using kitchen ingredients like herbs and spices with medicinal properties and other home remedies. The results showed that there was a significant rise in the usage of kitchen pharmacy and the application of traditional knowledge, compared to the pre-pandemic times, owing to its immunity boosting properties. Along with increase in usage of kitchen pharmacy, there was also a surge observed in usage of ayurveda, other home remedies and yoga, in comparison with allopathy. The statistical analysis showed that 40.9% of the respondents showed marked recovery after the continual usage of home remedies.
