ABSTRACT
The purpose of the research is to understand the participation of citizens in the media in Ecuador during Covid-19 because it was a country that was strongly affected. The research questions are what information is missing from the media about Covid-19? and is there an understanding of media managers to integrate audiences? The methodology is mixed, quantitative and qualitative, descriptive and relational through a survey, content analysis and interviews with experts. The missing information, according to the respondents, is real, detailed data about the disease and the presence of journalistic values. There is no progress in the participation, the reasons are in the wrong interpretation made by the managers, but also in the passivity of the audiences. There is a perceived position of dominance, of conditioning the right to communication. © 2021, Associacao Iberica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informacao. All rights reserved.
