Practice Pearls. EXPAND BUPRENORPHINE TREATMENT VIA TELEHEALTH

ABSTRACT

In the article, the authors discuss how their team developed protocols to connect patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) to telehealth visits and follow-up and to prescribe buprenorphine through telehealth and telephone. Among the steps are calling back patients who contacted after hours, creating 'on demand' telehealth OUD slots, and assigning certified addiction registered nurse to provide triage and counseling.
