The article discusses how the Environmental Health Department of Puerto Rico has managed challenges in 2017-2021 like public health emergencies and disasters. Other topics include how said disasters threatened its physical infrastructure and human resource capital, the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria in 2017, and the support provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to the department's hurricane recovery programs.
