ABSTRACT
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused millions of deaths and devastated communities across the globe. Vaccines will play a key role in bringing the pandemic under control, with successful clinical trials, authorizations and roll-out having now occurred in several countries. However, large-scale manufacturing of such vaccines remains a bottleneck to delivering doses to billions of people at risk of infection, as well as producing new versions of the vaccines that target variants. Here we discuss the current status of manufacturing, focusing on the adenovirus-vectored vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and how the process for manufacturing it was developed. © 2021 The Authors.
