ABSTRACT
In recent times we have witnessed a paradigm shift in health care, from a paternalistic model to a model that puts people (patients, family members and health professionals) at the center. Many times the need to have specific and extraordinary human and material resources, as well as to extend the assistance areas and measures taken to contain the spread of the infection, left aside the efforts to emotionally care for people, maintain their dignity and their social support. Having overcome the initial impact and adapted to the particular type of care for this type of patient, care teams look for a way to deal with these previously relegated aspects. scenario of the current pandemic, health systems around the world have focused their resources on facing the crisis, leaving fundamental aspects of care such as humanization relegated to the background. Intensive care in the country has not been immune to this change and in recent years various ICUs throughout the country have incorporated humanization into their usual practice, with a strong boost from the SUMI Humanization Commission.
