ABSTRACT
The Journal of Applied Research in Community Colleges (JARCC) sought out research articles and practice briefs about community college Latinx leaders as a call to current community college student demographic shifts and current leadership representation. Both of our research centralizes community colleges as our site of analysis that informs the conditions for students and leaders alike. [...]we analyze how, at a systems level, community college policies and practices engage with practitioners' identities, values, and leadership praxis. Dr. Hernandez's research and service commitments highlight the experiences learned by Latinx leaders in community colleges that aim to reimagine normative definitions of community college leadership and the social practice of leadership in higher education. Results of the study showed a positive correlation within "participants' high rates of graduate degree completion as well as leadership development program participation" to senior leadership roles (p. 34).
