Instructional Strategies for Applying Community of Inquiry Model in Virtual Community

ABSTRACT
COVID-19 has impacted nearly every aspects of our life, and made more visible the myriad political, economic, social and educational problems that have persisted all over the world. During this time, it is more important to consider how educators can design good online courses for supporting and engaging students to learn anytime, anyplace, and in anyway. The community of inquiry model has greatly influenced both research and practice in online education for twenty years, and it is also a successful model for higher education. Firstly, the community of inquiry model and its three key elements are introduced in this study. Secondly, this study reviews the literature and summarizes some effective instructional strategies for teachers to design online courses. Finally, some import comments and issues are provided for educators and researchers to help them improve future teaching or research.
