An Analysis of the Digital Transformation Trends in ASEAN-5 after Covid-19 Pandemic

ABSTRACT

This paper aims to find ASEAN technology trends and technology cooperation fields related to the digital transformation between ASEAN and Korea. First, this paper combines analysis impact between containment policy and economic growth in ASEAN-5 countries. The result showed there was a very negative correlation between the two. And the containment policy contributed to the growth of digital economy size. It means that some of industries eventually accelerated the growth of digital economy due to containment policy after Covid-19 pandemic and it will continue to grow. Despite the recession due to Covid-19, an accelerated growth type of industry in ASEAN-5 has increased the size of the digital economy. Accordingly, ASEAN governments are trying to overcome the economic downturn through massive investment on the digital transformation fields. Therefore, this paper helps to draw policy implications for the necessity of the technical cooperation between Korea and ASEAN.
