ABSTRACT
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the need for robust, high throughput diagnostics capable of screening large populations. To overcome this limitation, we have developed MINI a portable, high-throughput screening device for COVID-19 infection in community and limited resource settings for up to 96 samples simultaneously. MINI operates on electrical, solar, or thermal energy and is robust against power interruptions. Here, we provide a complete description of MINI, and preliminary validation of the system utilizing a predecessor device and nasopharyngeal (NP) swabs samples - results in <30 minutes post RNA extraction and purification. © 2021 MicroTAS 2021 - 25th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences.
