ABSTRACT
Pregnancy may increase susceptibility to the infection diseases and associated increased mortality rates. In the present chapter, we wanted to discuss about clinical manifestations, laboratory diagnosis, management of the infection, prevention and prophylaxis of infections in pregnancy and perinatal period. We mainly focus on the congenital infections caused by the pathogens including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), T. Pallidum, SARS-CoV-2 (Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) and viral hepatitis viruses (B, C, and E) that change maternal fetal out comes. © 2023 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
