Smart tourism destination model development in Danau Toba, Indonesia

Lake Toba was recently designated as one of 10 Special Economic Tourism Zones (KEKP) by the government, along with Borobudur in Central Java, Mandalika in NTB, and 7 other strategic tourism areas (Erb, 2000). [...]the Lake Toba Tourism Area Management Authority (BOPKPDT) was formed on June 1, 2016 which is specifically tasked with supporting the acceleration and development of tourism in the Lake Toba area. According to (Kontogianni & Alepis, 2020). a smart city is one that has developed in six areas smart government, smart mobility, smart environment, smart economy, smart people, and smart lifestyle. Smart tourism destinations is described as innovative tourism destinations, which in built technological infrastructure that can ensure the sustainability of the development tourism areas, can be accessed by anyone, and can facilitate the interaction of tourists with the conditions, conditions, or situations of tourism around the tourist area, it can improve of quality from tourist experience, and can also improve the quality of life of local residents (Rid, Ezeuduji, & Pröbstl-Haider, 2014).
