Database model for the management of soup kitchens as actors in the humanitarian response against COVID-19

ABSTRACT

The work deals with thedesign of a database model for the management of soup kitchens, as actors for humanitarian intervention in case of disasters. The soup kitchens are groups self-managed bythe inhabitants, belonging to the poorest communities of the city, which provide food to their associates. This activity is carried out with the support of institutional entities such as the Peruvian Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS), municipalities, NGO and local churches. Based on the diagnosis and mapping of processes, the food supply, production and distribution services in the COVID-19 scenario were characterized. The most critical points in the process of supplying canteens and the logistical challenges involved were identified. The project was developed in two districts of Lima, Capital of Peru Lurin and San Juan de Miraflores. The work was done with the participation of food supply actors at all levels authorities, canteen leaders and final beneficiaries. A database design is proposed for process management to improve the process of Control of the supply and distributionofgoodsincaseofdisasters. © 2022 Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions.
