Program As part of the plan stage of the PDSA model (Institute for Healthcare Improvement [IHI], n.d.), a unit-based nurse specialist and a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) assessed staff comfort with oral chemotherapy, identification, and safe handing processes by implementing a tip sheet and precaution signage on the project units. Because of inexperience with oral chemotherapy, staff indicated quarterly oral chemotherapy safety tips would be helpful.
