Introduction:

From January 2020 to December 31st, 2021, an estimated 5,940,000 people have died from COVID-19 worldwide. Case fatality rates vary by country, study setting and time. The objective of the present study was to determine the epidemiological and clinical factors associated with COVID-19 deaths in our department. Material and

methods:

This was a retrospective, descriptive and analytical case-control study of patients hospitalized in the Pulmonology Department of University Teaching Hospital Joseph Raseta Befelatanana in Antananarivo Madagascar, during the first two waves of COVID-19 in the country, from March to September 2020 and from March to June 2021.
