ABSTRACT

Purpose:

Majority of hospital waste collection systems in India is manual, thereby exposing healthcare workers to infections. The evolving COVID-19 pandemic also gives rise to fear, apprehensions of infection risks to bio-waste handlers. Further the task is tedious and time consuming. To reduce worker's stress and minimize infection risks;an autonomous hospital waste collecting robot was conceptualized. Concept &

Design:

"MEDIIAGVTM” an intelligent autonomous robot is an effectively efficient solution for hospital waste handling.

Findings:

1. MEDIIAGVTM and MEDIIBINTM play a significant role in COVID-19 Pandemic. 2. This automated system is an appropriate solution to hospital waste handling issues like exposure to possible infection risks, mistakes in segregation, time consuming, negligence in handling bio-waste without appropriate PPE, etc. 3. MEDIIAGVTM can also be utilized for hospital linen, sterile instruments, and other supply chains within the hospital. The Originality value In comparison to the prevailing system, MEDIIAGVTM with MEDIIBINTM is a unique low cost solution ensuring safety and increased effective efficiency. © 2023 DMICS.
