ABSTRACT
Over the past three years, the COViD-19 pandemic has had a strong global impact, not only in the spheres of health but also in other areas – social, economic, and cultural. there are many unanswered questions about both the origins of the COViD-19 pandemic and its systemic impact. it has been intensely debated why the COViD-19 pandemic became such a big surprise, for which we were unprepared as if we had just emerged from the shadow of Plato's cave. therefore, this article rhetorically asks and argues whether it is possible to predict COViD-19 and other pandemics in the future, properly learning the lessons from the past. © 2022 Lithuanian Institute of Philosophy and Sociology.
