ABSTRACT
COVID-19 has affected both the Eastern and Western hemispheres since December 2019. Some countries have had an efficient response depending on the availability of resources or the humanitarian approach applied to protect refugees and migrants in vulnerable situations. Ecuador and Iran have welcomed a large number of refugees and migrants from Venezuela and Afghanistan, respectively. Most of them need to work in the streets to earn some money, but the lockdown imposed has seriously damaged their revenues. The principal aim of this chapter is to analyse the response of Ecuador and Iran for protecting refugees and migrants in vulnerable situations during the COVID-19 pandemic. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.
