ABSTRACT
This chapter is the first in the professional sport section of the handbook and examines the impact of COVID-19 on sport governing bodies. The authors observe how the pandemic provided some sport governing bodies with the opportunity to learn and reset the way they deliver sport to their connected stakeholders. This chapter provides a framework for understanding and communicating how sport governing bodies were impacted by COVID-19. The chapter also outlines a future research agenda for rebuilding and restructuring sport systems, post-pandemic. © 2023 selection and editorial matter, Stephen Frawley and Nico Schulenkorf;individual chapters, the contributors.
