Reflections on Developing Academic Identity During the Pandemic

ABSTRACT

This work is a post-modern autoethnographic reflexive narrative about the internal journey in the development of academic identity arising in the context of the transition from working as a casual academic to engagement for a short-term contract and beyond in the quest for tenure during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is an exploration of my personal story about moving from the periphery of academic belonging and being, to reaching the turning point going ‘over the bridge' toward the future cycles of becoming that await.
