Equity and Perioperative Care

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic, with its disproportionate impact on historically marginalized populations, highlighted underlying inequities in society that can lead to disparate health outcomes and increased attention to the need to address health disparities. Although different countries may have different issues relating to health disparities, this chapter describes approaches that can be broadly applied to improve health equity and reduce disparities in perioperative care. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.
