This article is a Preprint
Preprints are preliminary research reports that have not been certified by peer review. They should not be relied on to guide clinical practice or health-related behavior and should not be reported in news media as established information.
Preprints posted online allow authors to receive rapid feedback and the entire scientific community can appraise the work for themselves and respond appropriately. Those comments are posted alongside the preprints for anyone to read them and serve as a post publication assessment.

ABSTRACT
Background:
Association of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) with malignancy has been well- recognized for a long time. However, its association with the novel corona virus (COVID-19) infection is extremely rare. Here we report a case of polymyositis in a patient with COVID-19 infection with underlying colorectal cancer. Case Presentation Here we report a case of a 73-year-old male who was admitted for COVID-19 infection but developed persistent limb weakness which was finally diagnosed as polymyositis. He was given high dose steroid along with methotrexate to which he responded very well. Conclusions:
Inflammatory myopathy should be suspected in elderly patients who present with generalized weakness especially in the background of malignancy. The association of COVID-19 infection with myositis needs further studies.
