Objetivos: Analisar a
prevalência de
hipertensão arterial e fatores associados em
adolescentes .
Métodos: Estudo cross seccional de base populacional. A amostra foi estratificada por tipo de
escola e turno e contou com 863
estudantes de 62
escolas públicas e
privadas do município de Arcoverde (
PE ) de ambos os sexos com idades entre 10 a 19 anos (13,6±2,6anos). As variáveis estudadas foram
pressão arterial , por meio dos
parâmetros da Task Force Report on High Blood Pressure in Children and Adolescent;
estado nutricional , avaliado mediante o
índice de massa corporal ;
fatores sociodemográficos e
hábitos alimentares , analisados através de
questionário e
inquérito recordatório, respectivamente.
Resultados: A
prevalência de
hipertensão arterial em ambos os gêneros foi 9,8%. O
sobrepeso e a
obesidade apresentaram frequências de 8,8% e 2,1%, respectivamente; outros fatores não estiveram associados (p>0,05) à
hipertensão (
gênero ,
cor da
pele ,
classe social e
hábitos alimentares ).
Conclusão: A
prevalência de
hipertensão arterial nos escolares apresentou valores semelhantes a outros estudos. Os acometidos por
sobrepeso e obesidades estiveram mais expostos à
hipertensão (AU)

Nutritional status was assessed by
body mass index . Socio-demographic factors and
dietary habits were evaluated through a
questionnaire and recall.
Results: The
prevalence of
hypertension in both sexes was 9.8%.
Overweight and obese had frequencies of 8.8% and 2.1% respectively, other factors were not associated (p> 0.05)
tha hypertension (
gender ,
ethnicity ,
social class and
eating habits ).
Conclusion: The
prevalence of
hypertension among schoolchildren showed values
similar to other studies. The affected by
overweight and
obesity were more susceptible to
hypertension (AU)
