Introduction:

Symptoms of dengue infection are nonspecific, complicating diagnosis and case reporting. Active surveillance is needed to better characterize disease burden. The objectives of this study were to estimate the incidence and identify risk factors for dengue fever (DF) in an urban slum community in Salvador, Brazil.
