Introduction:
The aim of the study was to compare the perception of the disorder symptoms in parents and teachers of Argentine children diagnosed with ADHD.
Method:
Ex post facto transversal descriptive study of two groups. The sample consisted of 140 parents and 70 teachers from 70 schoolchildren of the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina, aged between 8 and 14 years old diagnosed with ADHD. Was administered for parents and teachers the questionnaire SNAP IV of Swanson et al. (1983), in its argentinian version.
Results:
The parentsreport a higher level of symptomatology, even when the subtypes of the disorder are differentiated.
Discussion:
This discrepancy between informants can be interpreted as a reflection of the behavioral differences caused by different contexts, differential interactions between the child and those reporting, cultural norms, knowledge of normal child development and the expectations
