The developmental stages of Dirofilaria immitis in the mosquito Aedes aegypti (Liverpool strain) have been followed in living preparations. A total of 440 mosquitoes were infected by artificial membrane, dissected and examined for presence of all stages larvae of D. immitis. Early mortality ocurred in 77.95% of mosquito population. The first larvae stage appeared between the third and fourteenth day post infection; the sausage stage was observed 10 days after infection and L3 was identified 11 days after infection
