Lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB) is a recurrent condition for which the certainty diagnosis and bleeding site cannot always be determined.
Objectives:
to show our experience with segmentary resection of recurrent lower gastrointestinal bleeding detected by selective angiography in scheduled surgeries. Materials and
Methods:
Design:
observational, descriptive, retrospective. Population 20 patients with recurrent LGIB, 12 of them are women, average age 76.7 years (range 71-84). A scheduled, inferior and superior mesenteric selective angiography of the celiac trunk was performed, identifying the probable bleeding site when observing a characteristic injury in the study. The patients underwent a scheduled surgery.
Selective, scheduled angiography in recurrent LGIB patients is useful to determine segmental resection and to obtain results with a low morbimortality rate.
