Funcionalidad familiar desde la óptica del adulto mayor / Functional family nature from the point of view of elder people

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal en 50 familias pertenecientes al consultorio médico de la familia 14 A del policlínico Romárico Oro del municipio Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, desde enero hasta junio de 2009, con el objetivo de determinar el grado de funcionalidad familiar desde la óptica del adulto mayor. El universo y la muestra lo constituyeron las 50 familias con adultos mayores del referido consultorio. Se describieron variables como edad, sexo, escolaridad, estado civil, ocupación, tipo de familia, participación en actividades para la tercera edad y percepción del adulto mayor acerca de la etapa de la vida en que está inmerso. Para la obtención de la información se utilizaron la entrevista estructurada, el test de funcionamiento familiar FF SIL y el auto dibujo; la información recopilada se procesó mediante la prueba Chi cuadrado, buscando la relación entre variables. Se consideró p<0.05 (95 por ciento de confiabilidad) como nivel de significación estadística, obteniéndose un predominio de ancianos jóvenes, del sexo femenino, con nivel de primaria, jubilados, que viven en el seno de familias extensas y desde su percepción, funcionales; satisfechos por la etapa de la vida en que están inmersos, pero con poca integración a organizaciones e instituciones para la tercera edad, siendo su escenario fundamental el hogar(AU)
A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 50 families attending the 14 A family doctor´s office of Romárico Oro polyclinics in Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, from January to June 2009 to determine the degree of functional family nature from the point of view of elder people. The universe and the sample were constituted by 50 families with elder people belonging to the abovementioned doctor´s office. The variables used for description were age, sex, level of education, marital status, occupation, family type, participation in activities for third age people and perception elder people about this stage of life. The methods used for the gathering of information were the structured interview, the FF SIL family functioning test and the self- drawing method. The information gathered was processed by means of the Chi square test to find the relation between the variables. The p<0.05 (95 per cent of reliability) as the level of statistical significance, obtaining a predominance of young elder people, specially women with the primary level of education, retired and living in the bossom of big families they consider as functional. All these people are satisfied with the stage of life they are in, but have very little integration with organizations and institutions for third age people, being their the home the fundamental scene(AU)
