Forty
patients with suspected
common bile duct stones [CBDSs] were scheduled to undergo an elective
cholecystectomy. Confirmation or exclusion of CBDSs by
magnetic resonance cholangiography [MRC] was assessed. The results of ERC were analyzed. The study concluded that MRC-based
diagnosis has the potential to reduce the number of invasive preoperative diagnostic
procedures and their associated
risks and
overall health care
costs
