The value of laparoscopy in the evaluation of the surface appearance of the liver is described in 21 patients. Observed abnormalities may be biopsiedunder guidance and this is particularly helpful in suspected neoplastic involvement of the liver where disease of only the left lobe of the liver exists or when percutaneous needle biopsy has failed. Liver biopsy under laparoscopic vision usefully increases our diagnostic capacity (AU)
