This study evaluated the final live weight (LW), stoking rate (SR), daily weight gain (DWG), total weight gain (TWG) per animal and hectare, hot carcass weight (HCW), carcass dressing (CD), arroba produced per animal and hectare, of steers in differed pastures, receiving protein-energetic supplement in the dry period of the year. Eighteen F1 (½ Canchim x ½ Nellore) steers, castrated, 24 months of age and 375 kg average were used. The treatments consisted treatment 1 (T1) two animals per hectare receiving 2 kg of the protein-energetic supplement/animal/day and treatament 2 (T2) one animal per hectare receiving 1 kg of supplement/animal/day. Animals were placed in four paddock of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandú of three hectares (ha) each, which two paddock for each treatment, total of 12 ha differed during 60 days. For T1, the two paddocks had 6 animals each and for T2 the two paddock had 3 animals each. It was not observed any effect (P>0,01) on final LW, DWG, TWG, HCW, CD and the weight in arrobas per animal. The DWG was 1.12 and 1.05 kg/day respectively for T1 and T2. It was observed difference between T1 and T2 for the mean weight of 165.83 and 88.83 kg/hectare. T1 showed higher economic viability. It is recommendded the addition of stocking rate with protein-energetic supplement when differed pasture is used.
