ABSTRACT

Deep cerebral venous system thrombosis is uncommon and is usually encountered in children, generally in the neonatal period. In adults, this pathology is even more exceptional. We report two cases in adults. Deep cerebral venous system thrombosis mainly affects women taking oral contraception. The most common clinical pattern combines headaches and confusion. A comatose state is rather exceptional. This pathology, formerly considered to have poor prognosis, has benefited from diagnostic and therapeutic progress. Favorable outcome has been achieved in several recent cases, as one of ours, without after-effects. Diagnosis, often suggested by the CT-scan, is based on MRI associated with MRA. Thrombus formation is easily diagnosed by MRI at the subacute stage, but far less easily at the acute and chronic stages as the low signal is identical to the normal flow void. MRA, in phase contrast or time of flight sequences, is highly interesting at the acute phase. In case of doubt, an angiography can be applied. Therapy is based on heparin. The contribution of local infusion of thrombolytic agents, recently used with success, remains to be determined.

ABSTRACT

The authors report two cases of retroperitoneal malignant fibrous histiocytoma which is a rare tumour (200 cases reported in the literature). The clinical and radiological signs are nonspecific and the diagnosis is based on histological examination of the specimen. Surgical resection must be as complete as possible to prevent local recurrence. The efficacy of adjuvant therapy has not been demonstrated due to the low incidence of this tumour.

ABSTRACT

The authors report a case of congenital interruption of the inferior vena cava with azygos continuation with a deep venous thrombosis of the left lower extremity. It is a rare congenital abnormality which is most of the time asymptomatic. However such an abnormality may be a problem in case of cardiac catheterization or thoracic surgery.

ABSTRACT

Anuria complicating urethrocystopexy is generally an obstructive uropathy. No urinary tract dilatation had been observed in these two following cases. The rupture of the collecting system, with urinary extravasation, is due to acute ureteral obstruction and furosemide associated. The first exam to be done is the ultrasonography. However, this exploration can fail to demonstrate obstruction. Urgent percutaneous nephrostomy appears to be the best curative method. Surgical liberation of the trapped ureters is almost necessary.

ABSTRACT

A 59 year old woman, asthmatic and hypertensive, presented with unexplained abdominal pains and signs of internal hemorrhage. Ultrasonography and CT demonstrated mesenteric hematomas. Theses hematomas had been related to fissured aneurysms of branches of superior mesenteric artery in course of polyarteritis nodosa and proved by angiography.

ABSTRACT

One case of renal hemangioma is reported. Exact diagnosis was dependent on histopathologic findings. This hemangioma had a calcified mass feature, so, several radiological diagnosis are debated. The relevant literature is reviewed.
