ABSTRACT

This study intends to evaluate the development, importance, pre-clinical and clinical study evaluation of stem cell therapy for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is one of the main causes of fatality in the whole world. Though there are great progressions in the pharmacological and other interventional treatment options, heart diseases remain a common disorder that causes long-term warnings. Recent accession promotes the symptoms and slows down the adverse effects regarding cardiac remodelling. But they cannot locate the problems of immutable loss of cardiac tissues. In this case, stem cell treatment holds a promising challenge. Stem cells are the cells that are capable of differentiating into many cells according to their needs. So, it is assumed that these cells can distinguish into many cells and if these cells can be individualized into cardiac cells then they can be used to replace the damaged tissues of the heart. There is some abridgment in this therapy, none the less stem cell therapy remains a hopeful destination in the treatment of heart disease.

ABSTRACT

Different types of drug delivery systems are intended to deliver therapeutic agents to the appropriate site of interest to get desired pharmacological effect. In the field of drug delivery, the advancement of nanotechnology helps develop novel dosage forms such as liposome, noisome, and proniosome. Proniosomes are promising drug carriers, that are dry formulations, and after hydration, are converted to noisome dispersion. Dry proniosomal powder can deliver a unit dose of the drug with improved drug stability and solubility. By using this formulation, both the hydrophilic and lipophilic drugs can be delivered through different routes like oral, topical, transdermal, vaginal, etc. This review revolves on different features of proniosomes such as their structure, formulation materials of proniosomes, preparation methods, evaluation, and application.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate possible anxiogenic activity, sedative property and anxiolytic potential of crude ethanolic extract of Calotropis gigantea leaves. METHODS: The anxiogenic activity of crude ethanolic extract of Calotropis gigantea leaves was evaluated using standard animal behavioral models, such as hole cross and open field; sedative property and anxiolytic potential were evaluated by conducting thiopental sodium induced sleeping time tests and elevated plus-maze test. RESULTS: The crude ethanolic extract exhibited a significant (P<0.05, P<0.001) decrease of motor activity and exploratory behavior in hole cross and open field tests. The extract also markedly increased both the number of visits to and time spent in the corners of the open field. The extract treated rats spent more time in the open arm of elevated plus-maze, showing its antianxiety activity. There was a decrease in the locomotor activity. CONCLUSIONS: The obtained results provide support for the use of this species in traditional medicine and warrant further investigation to isolate the specific components that are responsible for the sedative and anxiolytic effects. Components from this plant may have a great potential value as medicinal agents, as leads or model compounds for synthetic or semi synthetic structure modifications and optimization, and as neuropharmacological probes.
