ABSTRACT
The effect of 5-hydroxyadamantane-2-one was studied on morphological state of brain tissue of rats after the occlusion of left middle cerebral artery. It was shown that intraperitoneal administration of 5-hydroxyadamantane-2-on at dose 100mg/kg, in 30 minutes after occlusion and once daily for the following 6 and 12 days leads to significant regenerative processes in brain tissue. These processes were more profound after the 12-day treatment with 5-hydroxyadamanta-ne-2-one.

Histamine changed characteristics of the perinephric spontaneous spike activity and of the spreading electrical wave. It was shown that histamine could activate latent pacemakers of the ureter's middle area. Morphological picture of the histamine effect was also shown.

The activity of monoamine oxidase (MAO) was studied during functional, inflammatory and tumoral diseases of the large intestine. In the patients with the irritable colon syndrome, the enzymatic activity was decreased by 34% at the acute stage of the disease and in those with nonspecific ulcerative colitis it was increased by 44%. Follow-ups of MAO activity may serve as an indicator of the adequacy and efficiency of the treatment performed.

There were studied the cardiomyocyte ultrastructure, contractile function, actomyosin complex composition and property of the rat ventricular myocardium after repeated gravitational overloading and following rest. In the hypergravitation period cardiomyocyte changes carry destructive character or are regenerative processes manifestation. They are comparable with myocardial contractile function state and with displacements in molecular structure of myofibrillar apparatus. At rest conditions the liquidation of cardiomyocytes destructive changes falls behind the normalization of contractile and regulatory cells of physico-chemical characteristics. The possible reasons of this phenomenon are discussed.

From study of histocytological parallels in 12 cases of cylindromas the authors determined the criteria of cytologic diagnosis which allowed these tumors to be differentiated from other neoplasms of the lungs. Cylindromas are characterized by the presence in the cytogram of 2 types of cells (small cells and larger ones with light nuclei), homogeneous spherical structures with cells occurring centrally or on the periphery, ball-shaped clusters of cells, and an oxyphilic structureless mass forming the background of the preparation. The absence of oxyphilic masses in solid cylindroma, atypism and polyphormism of the epithelial cells makes it very difficult to differentiate it from moderately and poorly differentiated glandular carcinoma. However, careful study of the preparations and the discovery of an intermediate substance makes it possible to differentiate cylindroma from glandular carcinoma.

Specific features of the cytologic picture were studied and the criteria of the cytologic verification of the tumor type and genetic appurtenance defined in cytologic studies of puncture biopsy specimens, removed tumor impressions, scrapings off, and histologic sections in the patients with malignant tumors of the synovial tissue. Analysis of the results of histologic studies has demonstrated the potentialities of the puncture cytologic method in the combined preoperative diagnosis of synovial sarcomas.

Patients with functional and inflammatory diseases of large intestine revealed changes of the activity of the sympathetic-adrenal system both in the hormonal and peripheral mediator links, i. e. against the background of pronounced deficit of noradrenaline all groups of patients showed an increased level of adrenalin indicating tension of medullary layer of the adrenal. The blood serotonin content was of value in the differential diagnosis of irritation syndrome of the colon and unspecific ulcerative colitis.

The blood levels of cyclic nucleotides and serotonin were measured in 143 patients with functional and inflammatory diseases of the large intestine. The patients were divided into 3 groups administered various treatment: drug (basic) therapy in Group 1, basic therapy + alternating magnetic field in Group 2, and basic therapy + sinusoidal modulated currents in Group 3. Follow-up of the examined parameters over the course of treatment has shown that by day 16 of inpatient treatment they normalize, this demonstrating the treatment efficacy.

Cytohistologic correlations were studied in 15 cases of fasciitis (nodular--10 and proliferative--5). Cytologic examination of punctate obtained from tumor-like lesions of the soft tissue is the only morphologic procedure available for pretreatment diagnosis of fasciitis. It assured a reliable diagnosis in 9 out of 15 cases. Intraoperatively, correct diagnosis was made in 12 out of 15 patients. Cytologic examination should be used in both out--and inpatients as well as for making urgent intraoperative diagnosis.
