ABSTRACT

Among all fields of healthcare about 45% of medical errors occur in the operating theatre. Wrong site procedures remain one of the most preventable medical errors. Unintentional wrong-sided peripheral nerve block is relatively a rare event in anesthesia care. However, the incidence is unknown but each time wrong-sided block occurs it represents a mistake and a potential for harm. The surgical safety checklist was established in 2008 by the world Health organization (WHO) as a part of the "Safe surgery save Lives" initiative. We report in this article a case of wrong sided continuous popliteal sciatic nerve block and discuss the role of the WHO's checklist in preventing wrong side peripheral nerve block and surgery.

ABSTRACT

Ultrasound imaging is a major technological advance in the practice of regional anesthesia. For the social security, their rationale relies on the concept of a global medical act i.e., each medical act is worked out, in order to describe the realized medical act totally. At present the social security uses this concept to prevent the anesthetists from quoting a supplementary ultrasound act. In this article we discuss the legitimacy of quoting ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia.

ABSTRACT

The physiopathology of respiratory accident will be discussed after a short summary of the respiratory system anatomy and its function at rest. The second part of this article will review the main reasons for respiratory deficiencies which are classified in four chapters: attack of the diaphragm attack of the wall attack of the respiratory tracts attack of the alveolo-capillary exchange The principal consequences, hypoxia and hypercapnia will be seen in the conclusion.

ABSTRACT

Angina pectoris results from an insufficient flow of oxygen to the myocardia cells. It is not an unusual complication in the dental office, the most frequent factors that trigger angina are: -stress, -pain, -exercise. The treatment consists in providing oxygen and vasodilators. Hypertension is characterized by an increase in the diastolic arterial blood pressure over 120 mmHg and by other clinical manifestations. Stress, pain, and exercise are the most frequent factors responsible for hypertensive disease. Hypertensive disease can lead to various complications ranging from a headache to myocardial infarct or hemiplegia. Treatment consists of different types of vasodilators.
