The Experiences of Newly Graduated Nurses during Their First Year of Practice.

The present study aimed to explore the experiences of newly graduated nurses during their first year of practise. A qualitative descriptive design was employed in this study. In-depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with newly graduated nurses to gather detailed descriptions and experiences during their transition to the workplace in the first year after graduation. Thematic analysis was utilised to identify patterns and themes in the collected data. Ethical considerations were strictly enforced throughout the study. There are two main themes: factors contributing to the integration of new nurses into the workplace and the difficulties faced by new nurses in a work environment. Within the first theme, three subthemes emerged: the positive role of trainers, the gradual handling of patients, and the benefit of pre-employment training and volunteering. The theme of difficulties faced included three subthemes: difficulty dealing with the health system and devices, fear of dealing with new patients, and difficulty applying policies and procedures in the workplace. The study provides insights into the challenges faced by newly graduated nurses and the factors that contribute to their integration into practise settings. Educational departments in hospitals' support and efficient access to policies are crucial for these nurses as they begin their early professional years.

Factors affects the performance of red crescent paramedics, Bisha, Saudi Arabia.

Context: Saving lives is the ultimate purpose of the Red Crescent paramedics. It is crucial to enable safe, effective, and efficient performance of paramedics globally. In Saudi Arabia, the Red Crescent faces at least over 280,000 cases every year. Aims: Therefore, this study aims to address the factors affecting the performance of the Red Crescent paramedics. Methods and Material: Descriptive qualitative study and all data processed were analyzed using thematic analysis. Settings and Design: In total, 31 paramedic staff in Bisha city were invited to participate in this descriptive qualitative study. Among them, 11 paramedics agreed to participate in an in-depth semi-structured interview. Results: The findings of the research indicated three themes. The first theme was a lack of awareness in society, with three sub-themes: types of emergency calls, the crowd that gathers at the incident location, and people interruptions. Theme 2 was the long distance and road obstacles, and other factors that affect the paramedics were the third theme. Conclusions: Policymakers and the community should obtain a clear understanding of the Red Crescent paramedic interventions to help to create policies, legislation, and guidelines suitable for the needs of paramedics.

Coping Strategies and Burden Dimensions of Family Caregivers for People Diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

(1) Background: Obsessive−compulsive disorder (OCD) is a chronic mental disorder that can be a source of emotional, financial and/or social burden for family caregivers. Few studies have investigated family caregiving for patients diagnosed with OCD in relation to the coping strategies being used from a theoretical perspective. This study evaluated the burden and coping strategies of family caregivers for people diagnosed with OCD. (2) Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted, in which 123 participants diagnosed with OCD and their caregivers were surveyed using three types of scales: obsessive−compulsive scale; coping scale; and burden scale. (3) Results: Of the participants with OCD and their caregivers, 53% and 31% were male and 47% and 69% were female, respectively. Around 80% of the OCD patients were considered young and their age ranged from 20−40 years old. Forty percent of caregivers in the current study reported a high burden level. The caregivers of those who had severe OCD symptoms had a lower coping level compared to the caregivers of those with less severe symptoms and those urban caregivers were able to better cope than rural caregivers. There was an association between OCD symptom severity and financial, work-related, social and family relationships, mental and health burdens for family caregivers. Meanwhile, the greater coping level of family caregivers, the lesser social and family, mental, and spouse relationship burden (p < 0.05); (4) Conclusions: The family caregivers of people diagnosed with OCD have specific aspects of burden and coping which require support by designing strategic interventions for family caregiver coping.

Medical Staff Members' Experiences with Blackboard at Taif University, Saudi Arabia.

INTRODUCTION: The coronavirus COVID-19 has had very serious impacts on many aspects of people's lives worldwide, including the negative effect on the educational system that disturbed the normal functions of medical faculties. Understanding the experiences of medical faculty members will help to better prepare for making improvements in similar future crises. Moreover, to our extended knowledge, there is no study on e-learning in the field of medical university education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore how online learning was applied at Taif University after the total transformation from traditional education to Blackboard during the COVID-19 crisis and how it can be improved. METHODS: The study used a descriptive qualitative study design. Staff from four medical colleges at Taif University, Saudi Arabia were invited to participate in a semi-structured interview. Eight Saudi lecturers participated, and data were analysed using thematic analysis. RESULTS: This study revealed four themes: Blackboard is professionally well designed; obstacles to the use of Blackboard; the need for Blackboard training; and student behavior through Blackboard. CONCLUSION: The use of the Blackboard has its advantages and disadvantages, and the education sector needs to do more research to find out that issues and work to improve it.
