ABSTRACT

Presentamos el caso de un preescolar varón de 3 años con un coristoma óseo epibulbar. El paciente presentaba una masa subconjuntival de consistencia dura de 8×10 mm en el cuadrante superotemporal del ojo derecho con vascularización y presencia de cilios largos de aproximadamente 8 a 10 mm que tocaban la superficie corneal. El estudio histopatológico evidenció la presencia de trabéculas de hueso compacto maduro rodeado de tejido fibroso, canales de Havers con anillos concéntricos de hueso laminar sin médula ósea y con osteocitos normales, lo cual definió el diagnóstico de coristoma óseo epibulbar. El coristoma óseo es el tipo más raro de coristomas oculares y debe considerar en el diagnóstico diferencial de los tumores epibulbares pediátricos


We present the case of a 3-year-old male child with an epibulbar bone choristoma. The patient presented with a hard consistency subconjunctival mass of 8 × 10 mm in the superior-temporal quadrant of his right eye along with vascularisation and a long cilium of approximately 8 to 10 mm that touched the corneal surface. The histopathology study showed the presence of trabeculae of mature, compact bone surrounded by fibrous tissue, as well as Havers channels with concentric rings of laminar bone without bone marrow, and with normal osteocytes which defined the diagnosis of epibulbar bone choristoma. Osseous choristoma is the rarest type of the ocular choristoma and should be considered as a differential diagnosis among paediatric epibulbar tumour

ABSTRACT

OMC (octyl-methoxycinnamate), an endocrine disruptor having estrogenic activity, is used in sunscreen creams as UV filter. We studied its "in vitro" effects on the hypothalamic release of Gn-RH as well as on the amino acid neurotransmitter system. OMC significantly decreased Gn-RH release in normal male and female rats as well as in castrated rats with substitutive therapy. No effects were observed in castrated rats without substitutive therapy. In males OMC increases the release of GABA, decreasing the production of glutamate (GLU) while in the female decreases the excitatory amino acid aspartate (ASP) and GLU without modifications in the hypothalamic GABA release. These results suggest that OMC acting as endocrine disruptor could alter the sex hormone-neurotransmitter-Gn-RH axis relationships in adult rats.

ABSTRACT

Se describen las características espectrofluorimétricas de dos derivados de quercetina aislados de las hojas de Flaveria bidentis, un derivado de 6-prenilpinocembrina, aislado de las raíces de Dalea elegans y un compuesto de estructura antraquinónica aislado de las hojas de Heterophyllaea pustulata. Todos ellos presentan espectros de absorción con máximos en la región UV-visible acordes con los grupos cromóforos presentes en su estructura. Los cuatro compuestos estudiados presentan fluorescencia nativa. La posición de los máximos de emisión de fluorescencia se modifica en función del disolvente. Los desplazamientos producidos están relacionados con el diferente grado de solvatación de las moléculas en estado excitado según la polaridad del disolvente. La adición de ácidos minerales provoca desplazamientos en los máximos de fluorescencia concordantes con los ya descritos para compuestos de estructura similar. Estas modificaciones espectrales tienen un gran interés analítico desde el punto de vista de la identificación y caracterización de productos naturales de estructura fenólica (AU)
