Pleomorphic fibroma of the skin was described by Kamino et al 1 in 1989. It is a benign fibroblastic proliferation with cytologic atypia. This article describes a case of a myxoid variant of pleomorphic fibroma of the skin.

We present a patient with hemochromatosis whose first sign of disease was an accidental finding of interstitial patterns on a chest film and whose transbronchial biopsy showed traces of iron (Fe) in alveolar macrophages and septal matter. We then looked for deposits in other locations, finding Fe ([+]: 6.964 micrograms) in the dry weight of a cylindrical sample of liver tissue. A Medline search on CD-ROM for 1989 through May of 1994 revealed no references to similar cases.

Twenty cases of granulomatous prostatitis are presented. They were identified, histologically or cytologically, among 1,316 patients with prostatic pathology at the General Hospital of Asturias during a period of 3 years (Jan. 1984 to Dec. 1986). The etiology, histogenesis, clinical and morphological aspects, treatment and prognosis of the different types of granulomatous prostatitis, according to a classification by the authors, are discussed. The significance of the differentiation of granulomatous prostatitis from carcinoma is discussed. Fine-needle aspiration cytology (Franzen) is recommended as the diagnostic method of choice.
