ABSTRACT

Reflective case discussion (RCD) is a reflective activity conducted by nurses, midwives, and other healthcare workers to enhance their skills, critical thinking, and knowledge. This systematic review follows the PRISMA Guideline checklist and includes articles from various databases, such as Scopus, PubMed, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect. The quality assessment of each article was performed using the Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP). During the initial database search, we retrieved 997 articles from Scopus, 700 articles from ProQuest, 357,554 articles from PubMed, and 1,526 articles from ScienceDirect. The search was conducted using relevant keywords, including "reflective case discussion," "nursing," "critical thinking," "skills," and "knowledge." Following the inclusion and exclusion criteria, eight relevant articles were identified, excluding duplicate studies, limited to full papers, open access, conducted in a hospital setting, and written in English. The findings demonstrate that RCD effectively enhances nurses' skills, critical thinking, and knowledge, contributing to their professionalism in patient care. RCD also proved beneficial in preventing repetitive mistakes and promoting teamwork among nurses. Thus, RCD should be embraced as a valuable form of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and integrated into nurses' ongoing learning processes.

ABSTRACT

Stroke is a life-threatening condition caused by the rupture of a brain blood vessel, potentially causing brain damage within minutes, severe disability, and even death. After initial hospitalization and rehabilitation, most stroke survivors return home, relying on their family members as caregivers for activities of daily living and treatments. This scoping review aimed to evaluate caregivers' readiness for transitioning stroke patient care to a home environment. We conducted a comprehensive search on Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases, followed by a secondary search to identify articles based on predefined criteria. A total of 14 articles were synthesized, leading to a series of findings: (1) there is a need to assess and identify caregiver needs, (2) the process needs relevant information, (3) caregivers are involved in the care process until the patients are discharged from the hospital, and (4) there is a need to offer support to caregivers. These results indicate that implementing strategies to enhance caregiver preparedness is crucial for the effective home-based care of stroke survivors.

ABSTRACT

The management of human resources is essential in a hospital, and its success can be seen based on the turnover rate of nursing personnel (nurses and midwives). In a hospital, the nursing personnel represents the largest number of professionals, and its performance greatly affects the effectiveness of services for patients. This study examined how organizations can predict turnover rates through intention to stay. Furthermore, this study aimed to explain the influence of cooperative behavior (both perceived external prestige and internal respect that affects organizational identification), which correlates with the intention to stay of nursing personnel. This quantitative research had a cross-sectional design, using a survey. The population involved non-permanent workers in five private and government hospitals. The sample consisted of 147 respondents. This study indicates that cooperative behavior showed positivity and significantly influenced the intention to stay, based on a 95% confidence degree. Perceived external prestige (p=0.009) and perceived internal respect (p=0.002) showed positivity and significantly influenced organizational identification. Perceived internal respect directly influenced the intention to stay (p=0.000), and organizational identification showed positivity and significantly influenced the intention to stay (p=0.000). Hospital management is more active in improving efforts and programs to improve the behavior of cooperatives, which is actually more dominant in non-financial aspects.
