ABSTRACT

In this clinical trial, 60 nurses from three geriatric centers were enlisted and randomly split into two groups: control (n = 30) and intervention (n = 30). Statistical analysis using SPSS version 21 employed Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Chi square, and t-test to assess results. The intervention group received eight training sessions. After the MBSR Training in the intervention groups, results showed there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups concerning the scores of the subscales of death and dying (t = 6.161, P < 0.001), conflicts with physicians (t = 7.962, P < 0.001), inadequate preparation (t = t = 6.524, P < 0.001), lack of support resources (t = 5.532, P < 0.001), conflicts with nurses (t = -6.632, P < 0.001), workload (t = 6.587, P < 0.001), uncertainty of treatment (t = 5.587, P < 0.001) as well as the scores of the subscales of burnout.

ABSTRACT

Molecular dynamics approach accompanied by reactive force field is used to study the characteristics of the oxide growth process on Ni(100) and Ni(111) surfaces at the temperatures of 300, 600, and 900 K and 5 eV as the energy of the O2 impacts. The exposure of Ni surfaces to the high-energy O2 impacts indicates that the primary oxide nuclei can be formed on any impact site. The results of kinetic studies clarify that the oxide growth kinetics cannot be accurately explained with the island growth model and increasing the surface temperature raises failure of the model. Under the present conditions, the growth kinetics is found to obey a Langmuir growth model. Increasing the surface temperature from 300 to 900 K results in ∼18.75% and ∼23% more oxygen consumption by (100) and (111) surfaces of Ni, respectively. The structure of nickel oxide (NiO) film formed after 200 successive O2 impacts per surface super-cell is investigated utilizing radial distribution functions and oxygen density profiles. These calculations demonstrate that the structure of the formed NiO film is amorphous. Moreover, the charge profiles in Ni/NiO system are illustrated and discussed.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the present study was to investigate physical activity by socioeconomic status (SES) and sex in an Iranian adult population. METHODS: In a cross-sectional study, 6622 adults, who participated in the Isfahan Healthy Heart program (IHHP) surveys in 2004 and 2005 and were living in urban areas, were studied. Daily leisure time, household, occupational, and transportation physical activity, and total physical activity were calculated and compared in 3 socioeconomic status groups classified by the two-step cluster analysis procedure. RESULTS: Statistically significant variations were found in all physical activity levels, except transportation, by sex. Men were more active than women in all fields, except household physical activity. Leisure time physical activity of men and women were significantly higher in higher SES levels. There was an opposite correlation between SES and total physical activity in men. CONCLUSION: Considering the importance of physical activity as a component of a healthy lifestyle, differences among varying socioeconomic status and sex must be considered while planning for healthy lifestyle programs. Women with low SES, in particular, may need more attention.
