ABSTRACT

There was performed an analysis of the working conditions and health status of workers of the chemical enterprise. In male electrical staff exposed to electromagnetic fields (EMF) of 50 Hz and chemicals, according to data of periodic medical examinations there was revealed statistically higher incidence of cardiovascular diseases and autonomic disorders. The obtained preliminary results allow to suggest the upsurge of the involvement of the autonomic nervous system in response to the combined effects of EMF of 50 Hz and chemicals.

ABSTRACT

Evidence-based principles in occupational medicine should include prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Specific feature of occupational medicine is necessity to prove cause-effect relationships between occupational factor and the disease emerged. Important place is occupied by cohort and intervention studies, systematic reviews and meta-analysis. Information obtained by scientific society should be presented to practical specialists and put into everyday activities.

ABSTRACT

Average age at first disablement status by primary diagnosis of occupational diseases reaches 51.8 +/- 4.1 years. Medical and social examination proves II grade disablement in 15% of individuals. Disablement due to occupational diseases is characterized by high stability (60.5 out of 100 repeatedly examined per year). The authors revealed statistically significant (p < 0.001) dependence of disablement degree on the disease duration until the relationship between the disease and occupation is established.

ABSTRACT

Prospective cohort study covered 348 workers of dust-related occupations with verified occupational bronchial diseases. The authors studied dependence between industrial aerosol levels at workplace, smoking status and pace of pulmonary function decrease in individuals with chronic bronchitis and COLD. Conclusion is that totality of occupational bronchial diseases patients is uneven and differs in course and clinical and functional parameters.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with prevention of chronic obstructive lung disease in industrial workers. The authors analysed prevalence of smoking and tobacco addiction degree on four enterprises of Tatarstan Republic. Share of smokers with moderate and high degree of tobacco addiction among the workers appeared high. The article covers approaches to realize corporate anti-smoking programs and to evaluate its efficiency.

ABSTRACT

The study of endemic and biogeochemical features of the territory of Chuvash Republic showed that dietary patterns of the local population reflect specific environmental factors including selenium, manganese, and iron deficiency. Calcium deficit is mainly due to poorly balanced nutrition.

ABSTRACT

The study of the impact of family social hygienic factors on the breast feeding process was carried out on the basis of the sociological survey of 394 women of fertilization age from the "Kazanorgsintez" staff. The influence on the breast feeding duration of such factors as the family structure, the living conditions, the family income level is revealed. The ensued characteristics of breast feeding resulted from the impact of the practice of breast feeding developed in families.

ABSTRACT

The paper presents a procedure for quantitative sociomedical and hygienic assessment of the quality of life. Several combinations of factors that have the greatest influence on the quality of life and human health: medicodemographic indices; the prevalence and incidence rates of all classes of diseases in different age population groups; health care quality; socioeconomic conditions; natural, climatic, and sanitary conditions; quality of the population's nutrition; sociological assessment of living conditions. Based on the performed study, the indicators were estimated by each combination of factors. The quantitative determination of the integrated index of life quality may be used to assess the socioeconomic position, the health status of the population in some administrative districts and regions over time.

ABSTRACT

Videodisplay users were compared with reference group in nervous system state, length of service (under 5 years, 5-10 years, 10 years and more) during prospective observation. The comparison demonstrated reliably high and occupationally induced risk of vegetative dysfunctions. The authors defined correlation of the risk with exposure to 2-400 kHz magnetic fields.

ABSTRACT

Production of pyropowder, as a model of hazardous production, appeared to have the main features showing unfavorable influence of work conditions on the workers' health state. Based on those features, the authors designed criteria for early diagnosis of occupational diseases and determined critical length of service in the stated production, during which no changes of the workers' health state occur.

ABSTRACT

Work in partial sensory isolation (buildings without windows and illumination) induces marked asthenia. Data obtained by questionnaires and intentional medical examination helped to define risk ranges for the asthenia occurrence. The group of unfavorable outcome appeared to include operators aged 20-39, white-collar workers aged 30-39 and 40-49, packers (age range of 30-39). The asthenia together with other occupational factors reliably influences the level of morbidity with transitory disablement due to allergic diseases, cardiovascular illnesses, malignancies (the shares of the influence and 25.3%, 27.0%, 23.1% respectively).

ABSTRACT

The studies covered changes in functional state of 42 programmers working at VGA. All the examinees reported subjective evaluation of fatigue and variational pulsometry before and after the work at VGA, those who worked at the display for 3 hours underwent blood pressure and pulse rate measurements (with subsequent calculation of several hemodynamic parameters) before and after the work. The researchers applied Major Components Method to obtain some integral parameters. The obtained values described initial state of cardiovascular system and changes in autocorellation of some BCG intervals. The fatigue was proved to occur by the end of the second working hour, and by the end of the third hour the examines demonstrated unfavorable changes of functional state (depression of heart activities and increased blood pressure). Only those who worked over 4 hours reported discomfort, so functional disorders appear earlier, than individuals detect them.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with analysis of methodic approaches to diagnose of boundary neuropsychopathies (BN), covers the results of screening among industrial workers exposed to such physical occupational factors as sensory deprivation, noise and vibration, electromagnetic fields in cm and dm ranges. The screening was conducted by means of the authors' method for early diagnosis. The obtained results proved that incidence of BN and their structure depend to a large extent on special characteristics of occupational factors. Multivariate statistics helped to define most probably reactions of psychic sphere to the studied occupational factors.
