Drug trial with CIBA 1906 was conducted in 50 cases of lepromatous leprosy who were intolerant to dapsone therapy. Drug was tolerated well and lepra reactions were infrequent and mild. Clinical improvement was seen in 72% cases whereas no appreciable change was detected in 28% cases. An average reduction of 0.4 in BI was detected in 62% cases, while remaining cases did not show any reduction in BI. No significant side effects were encountered during the study. Antibacterial activity of CIBA 1906 was not found superior to dapsone.

A patient with classical features of Behcet's Syndrome is presented. The case which initially had ophthalmological manifestations posed great difficulty in diagnosis until the genital and oral ulcerations appeared. Systemic manifestations in the form of arthritis and hepatomegaly appeared still later. Neurological involvement set in as a terminal event.

Five cases of neurospyhilis with atypical manifestation have been reported. Of these four cases presented as acute neurological illness and showed variable recovery after antisyp'iiilitic therapy. One of these cases had parinaud sip which was unaffected by treatment One case presented as dementia and gave poor response to therapy. In only one of these five cases was reagin in CSF demonstrated. Lange's colloidal gold test was negative in all. As such failure to demonstrate reagin in CSF does not rule out the diagnosis of neurosyphilis. In an antibiotic era patients may inadvertently receive some antibiotics prior to presentation to a clinician and therefore are unlikely to present with typical neurological and laboratory findings.

35 cases of lepromatous leprosy were studied to evaluate the effective blood level and long depot action of acedapsone (DADDS). It was revealed that serum level of this drug is maintained well above the minimum inhibitory concentration upto 60 days following single intramuscular injection. No significant untoward effects of the drug were encountered except one case of Erythema Nodosum Leprosum and six patients with mild reactional symptoms in the form of fever and arthralgia.
