ABSTRACT

An effect was studied of electromagnetic radiation of the millimetric wave band (EHF EMR) on ultrastructural processes of the mucosa and healing of ulcer in 10 patients with duodenal ulcer. Biopsy specimens were taken from the base of the margin of the ulcer and in the area 1 cm from the margin of the ulcer defect before the treatment, after 5 and 10 sessions of EHF EMR to acupuncture points. EHF EMR was found to exert a stimulating effect on the processes of ulcer regeneration. Seen after session 5 are layers of proliferating poorly differentiated enterocytes, activation of immune and autoimmune processes, normalization of the hemomicrovessel endothelial cell structure, filling in the ulcer defect with a newly formed granulation tissue in which, among fibroblasts, macrophages, mast cells and lymphocytes, there prevail plasmic cells with an augmented secretion of immunoglobulins, increase in proliferation of epitheliocytes, with their differentiation slowing down, and a complete epithelialization of the ulcer following ten treatment procedures.

ABSTRACT

Ultrastructural changes of myocardium cells, neurons of sensorimotor cerebral cortex, endothelium of blood microvessels were registered by transmissive electron microscopy in mice receiving rock balm preparations per os. Both stimulating and toxic effects were observed dependently on used concentrations. This necessitates dosage to be strictly observed.

ABSTRACT

Dust of mineral wool obtained from ferronickel slags was demonstrated to be capable of inducing moderate pneumofibrosis. Small contents of manganese, nickel, chrome and cobalt in the mineral wool particles necessitate further investigations for their probable mutagenic effect.

ABSTRACT

The carrying ability of a spinal disc disturbed under axis load is found to be due to the displacement of a vertebra lying above it. The constant stretching of the extensively innervated soft tissues of the spine brings about a steady irritation process within the limits of the segmental part of the spinal cord and dysfunction of short profound muscles of the back.

ABSTRACT

A study is presented of the ultrastructure of tissue basophils evaluated by electron microscopy in patients with rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis. Four types of cells were distinguished according to their functional activity and morphological manifestations. Qualitative analysis of the population of tissue basophils allows to establish a relationship with such characteristics of the clinical picture as activity of the inflammatory process primarily and to analyze in detail the role and significance of these cell forms in the process of formation of inflammatory changes in the connective tissue.

ABSTRACT

Dynamics of decompensatory changes in the heart (in cardiomyocytes, connective tissue stroma of the myocardium, neural structures, microcirculatory bed) has been followed under conditions of developing stenosis of the pulmonary trunk. The data have been obtained by means of various investigational methods: histological - injection of vessels with Indian ink - gelatin, impregnation of the neural structures after Bielschowsky - Gros; histochemical - to reveal functional activity of parasympathetic and sympathetic neural structures after Koelle - Gomori and Falck - Hillarp - Govyrin, and electronmicroscopically. At the beginning of the experiment destructive processes predominate. By the first month, compensatory-adaptive processes develop in the heart. By the first year, persisting hypoxia and quick exhaustion of all cardiac structures result in development of the heart failure.
