ABSTRACT
O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar os cuidadores de 35 portadores de necessidades especiais (PNEs) em atendimento em uma clínica de especialidades odontológicas e identificar os significados atribuídos pelos mesmos às suas ações de cuidado, no contexto da assistência oferecida. Os dados foram obtidos através de entrevista semi-estruturada e analisados por meio do exame do conteúdo das respostas abstraídas de suas falas, mediante agrupamentos que chegassem à significação e compreensão que tinham acerca dos questionamentos a que foram submetidos. As falas encerram em si a discussão desses heróis anônimos que merecem o reconhecimento de seu papel não só na esfera familiar, mas principalmente na social e a necessidade de implementação de políticas sociais que possam amenizar o fardo advindo dessa árdua função.
The purpose of this study was to characterize the caregivers of 35 people with disabilities (PDs) seen at a dental clinic, and identify the meanings they assigned to the care actions they received, with the context of the service provided. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed by examining the content of the answers excerpted from their statements. The data was then assigned to groups to achieve the meanings and understandings they had regarding the questions they were asked. The statements cover the discussion of these anonymous heroes who deserve having their role appreciated not only within their family, but especially in the social scope, as well as the need to implement social policies that could reduce the burden from this arduous occupation.
