ABSTRACT

MoS2based materials are recognized as the promising candidate for multifunctional applications due to its unique physicochemical properties. But presence of lower number of active sites, poor electrical conductivity, and less stability of 2H and 1T MoS2inherits its practical applications. Herein, we synthesized the Se inserted mixed-phase 2H/1T MoS2nanosheets with abundant defects sites to achieve improved overall electrochemical activity. Moreover, the chalcogen insertion induces the recombination of photogenerated excitons and enhances the life of carriers. The bifunctional energy storage and photocatalytic pollutant degradation studies of the prepare materials are carried out. Fabricated symmetric solid-state supercapacitor showed an exceptional capacitance of 178 mF cm-2with an excellent energy density of 8µWh cm-2and power density of 137 mW cm-2, with remarkable capacitance retention of 86.34% after successive 8000 charge-discharge cycles. The photocatalytic dye degradation experiments demonstrate that the prepared Se incorporated 1T/2H MoS2is a promising candidate for dye degradation applications. Further, the DFT studies confirmed that the Se inserted MoS2is a promising electrode material for supercapacitor applications with higherCQdue to a larger density of states near Fermi level as compared to pristine MoS2.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Many patients experience moderate-to-severe pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. We aimed to compare the efficacy of ultrasound-guided bilateral subcostal transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block with port-site infiltration for post-operative analgesia after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. METHODS: Patients undergoing elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anaesthesia were divided into two groups of 40 each to receive ultrasound-guided bilateral subcostal TAP block (T) with 0.25% bupivacaine 20 ml each side or port-site infiltration with 0.5% bupivacaine 5 ml each at 4 ports (I) at the end of the surgery before extubation. All patients received paracetamol 1 g intravenous 8th hourly. Tramadol 1 mg/kg intravenous bolus and diclofenac 1 mg/kg intravenous infusion were used as the first- and second-line rescue analgesics when Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) ≥4, or when the patient complained of pain. NRS at 1, 2, 3, 6, 12 and 24 h after surgery, time to first analgesic request and total dose of analgesics in 24 h were recorded. Chi-square test and independent t-test were used to compare qualitative and quantitative data, respectively. RESULTS: Time to first analgesic (mean±SD) in Group I and Group T was 292.7 ± 67.03 and 510.3 ± 154.55 min and mean tramadol required was141.8 ± 60.01 mg and 48.69 ± 36.14 mg, respectively (P = 0.001 for both). Mean NRS at 2, 3, 6, 12 and 24 h was significantly lower in Group T. CONCLUSION: Ultrasound-guided bilateral subcostal TAP block provides superior post-operative analgesia after laparoscopic cholecystectomy compared to port-site infiltration.

ABSTRACT

Strontium sulfide doped with copper has been regarded as one of the most promising inorganic materials for the blue-green color phosphor. A wet chemical precipitation method with post-annealing is presented for the synthesis of copper-doped SrS nanoparticles. XRD studies revealed the phase purity of SrS particles with rocksalt structure. TEM images showed the formation of nanoparticles with an average size of 7 nm. Green photoluminescence emission (PL) at 535 nm was observed for an excitation wavelength of 356 nm, the intensity of which was greater than that of coarser phosphor particles synthesized by solid state reaction. Low temperature PL showed a redshift with decreasing temperature which is due to aggregated copper centers. Luminescent decay at room temperature was found to be faster than the reported values of the corresponding transition in thin film samples. A blueshift in the absorption edge was observed for the nanophosphor with respect to the bulk due to reduction in particle size.
