ABSTRACT
Las células madres están consideradas como uno de los futuros más prometedores de la medicina. Actualmente se están desarrollando investigaciones para su estudio y para determinar sus posibles aplicaciones. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre esta temática con el objetivo de promover y divulgar la aplicación de las células madres, fundamentalmente en la cirugía y la endodoncia. Se realizó búsqueda documental de la literatura nacional e internacional existente en el campo de las ciencias biomédicas. Se identificaron como palabras clave: Células madre; stemcells; dental pulp; ingeniería tisular, elementos que constituyeron la base para la formulación de la estrategia de búsqueda manual y automatizada. Se consultaron las principales bases de datos bibliográficas a partir del portal Infomed, teniendo en cuenta las unidades temáticas que contienen, así pudimos consultar documentos en Pubmed, HINARI, Ebsco Host, Cochrane, DynaMed, se consultaron otros recursos en Internet como las páginas Web de instituciones y asociaciones de las ciencias biomédicas entre otras en soporte papel. Se comentan algunas definiciones así como su clasificación en cinco tipos de células madres de origen dental, de la pulpa, del ligamento periodotal, de dientes primarios exfoliados, de la papila dental y del folículo dental. Se enfocan algunas aplicaciones actuales en cirugía y endodoncia destacándose la implantación en cirugía y la apicoformación en endodoncia. The stem cells are considered one of the most promising futures of the medicine. At present there are investigations for this study to determine their possible applications. It was performed a bibliographic review on this topic with the aim to promote and spread the application of the stem cells, fundamentally in the surgery and in the endodontics. It was made a documentary research of the national and international literature in the field of the biomedical sciences. There were identified some keywords like: stem cells; dental pulp; tissue engineering, elements that constituted the base for the formulation of the strategy of the manual and automated research. There were consulted the main bibliographic databases from the Infomed portal, taking into account their thematic units, this way there were consulted the documents in Pubmed, HINARI, Ebsco Host, Cochrane, DynaMed, and there were consulted other resources in Internet like the web pages of institutions and associations of the biomedical sciences among others in papers. Some definitions were discussed as well as their classification in five types of stem cells of dental origin, of the pulp, of the periodontal ligament, of the primary exfoliated teeth, of the dental papilla and of the dental follicle. There were focused some current applications in surgery and endodontics, standing out the implantation in surgery and the apical formation in endodontics. The present article offers the most updated available information on this topic and may serve of theoretical grounds for future investigations(EU)
