ABSTRACT

The objective of the present study was to develop a rationale for the local treatment of chronic recurring cystitis in the postmenopausel period. To this effect, 76 patients at the mean age of 66.4 years with this pathology were examined and the data obtained were compared with observations of control postmenopausel women receiving traditional local substitution hormonal therapy. In the patients of the study group, this treatment was supplemented by intravaginal vibro-magnetotherapy and the conventional antibacterial therapy was replaced by local electrophoresis. All local physiotherapeutic procedures were performed with the use of a AMUS-01 - Intramag apparatus equipped with a Rektomassazher device an AMUS-01 - Intramag apparatus equipped with a Rektomassazher device. The immunological analysis of vaginal secretion coupled to bacterial and clinical investigations have demonstrated the advantages of the combined local treatment including physiotherapy. The integral efficacy index was by a factor of 1.8 higher than in the control group.

ABSTRACT

To compare informative value of three tests (2-, 3- and 4-glass) in diagnosis ofprostatitis we examined 177 patients with chronic prostatitis (CP) who were randomized into 4 groups. Group 1 patients (n = 33) were examined with standard 4-glass test (Mearls and Stamey), patients of subgroup 2a (n = 42) were examined with 2-glass test before finger rectal test (FRT), FRT was made in subgroup 2b (n = 45) before urine collection (2 portions), group 3 (n = 57) was examined by an original technique proposed by the authors. While performing the latter test special focus was given to urination continuity, then the secretion obtained at FRT was studied. Efficacy of each of the tests was assessed by comfort of the procedure for the patient and the doctor, a proportion of false-positive results. The 3-glass test proved most informative and significant. Also, it is sensitive in detection of urogenital tuberculosis. The 4-glass test is not comfortable for both the patient and the doctor. The 2-glass test often produced false-positive results.

ABSTRACT

Ejaculatory disorders are one of the most frequent sexual dysfunction. To study this problem in different climatic regions, we made a population-based trial with participation of 543 Russian men (149 from the south of Russia, 394 from Siberia). Correlation of ejaculatory disorders with IELT duration, a testosterone level, comorbid chronic prostatitis was estimated. We found that 59.2% of young men had normal ejaculation but only 20% of men over 50 years of age. In the latter group of patients delayed ejaculation predominated. 43.6% of the southerners and 33.5% of the Siberians had premature ejaculation, and 6.1 and 16.9%--delayed ejaculation, respectively; 26.7 and 31.2% were hypogonadal, respectively. Ejaculation was normal in 74.6% men with a normal testosterone level. Hypogonadal patients had premature ejaculation in 48.2% cases, delayed ejaculation in 28.3%. Of the total 543 men, 67.2% had chronic prostatitis. Only 46% of patients with chronic prostatitis had normal ejaculation, 43.3% had premature ejaculation and 10.7% had delayed ejaculation. Thus, in cold climate delayed ejaculation occurs more often, in the South premature ejaculation predominates. A low testosterone level as well as chronic prostatitis resulted in ejaculatory disorders. There are significant differences in ejaculation between young and old men, whose living in the South and Siberia, eugonadal and hypogonadal. Therefore, when characterizing a copulative act as "normal" it is necessary to take into account age, comorbidity, region of living and other factors.

ABSTRACT

The test with running on a treadbane showed a 56% increase of working capacity in the control group of male albino mice on the 20th day of training. Oral administration of elton, leveton, phytoton, and adapton, as well as Leuzea and Rhodiola extracts and Schisandra chinensis tincture caused a statistically significant increase in the time of running on the treadbane of animals by the 10th day of medication. The increase in the working capacity of the animals was more marked by the 20th day. In the test of swimming "to the limit" adapton, phytoton, leveton, and elton increased to a greater extent the working capacity of male albino rats in diminishing succession (from 213 to 168%). Schisandra tincture and Rhodiola and Leuzea extracts also increased the swimming time of the animals by 135-159%.

ABSTRACT

Study of 44 athletes of various sport skill undergoing training for endurance showed the chemiluminescence method to be an important parameter indicating that a person is trained for physical exertion. The broad-spectrum adaptogenic agents elton and leveton reduced in in-vitro experiments the superweak luminescence of urine, which is evidence of their direct antioxidant effect. Twenty-day administration of elton and leveton reduced chemiluminescence and the level of malonic dialdehyde in the urine of highly skilled athletes and increased their physical working capacity tested by bicycle ergometry with gradually increasing physical loads.

ABSTRACT

Comparative study was conducted of formal preparations of tinctures of eleutherococcus and leuzea and the newly developed preparations Elton and Leveton containing, respectively, eleutherosids and ecdisten. Intensive physical activity of high-class athletes leads to increase of blood coagulation expressed in shortening of the thromboelastogram r and K intervals and increased activity of the proth rombin complex according to Quick, and increased activity of factors II, VII, X, XIII, and fibrinolysis. The concentration of fibrinogen increases. A 20-day course of eleuthrococcus tincture causes a decrease in the blood coagulation potential and activity of the blood coagulation factors induced by intensive training of the athletes. Twenty-day treatment with the new broad-spectrum adaptogens Elton and Leveton causes a more marked reduction of the coagulation potential in athl etes. The activity of the factors and fibrinolys are normalized in this case. The indicated shifts are accompanied with increase of working capacity and rehabilitation of the athletes.

ABSTRACT

The effect of 20-day administration of ectisten-containing tincture of leuzea and leveton on humoral immunity of track and field runners for distances of 5,000 and 10,000 m was studied. Intensive cyclic physical activity induced significant decrease of IgG and IgA in blood serum of the athletes as well as the complement C3 component on the 10th and 20th days. Both drugs contributed to restoration of the lowered IgG, IgA, and C3 concentration. The effect of leveton was more pronounced. The working capacity of the athletes grew by 10 to 15% in this case.
