ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this case report is to address a delayed replantation and successful regenerative endodontic procedure of an avulsed immature permanent incisor which was confirmed by TurboReg analysis. STUDY DESIGN: In this case, regenerative endodontic procedure was performed on an avulsed tooth with a delayed replantation in a 7 year old boy. In the emergency visit after the avulsion accident in February 2017, the tooth was replanted and one week later regenerative endodontic procedure began. After 17 months follow up, in July 2018, root wall thickness and length increase was confirmed by TurboReg analysis. CONCLUSION: The outcome of this treatment was evaluated by TurboReg analysis which was a remarkable increase in root length and dentinal wall thickness, despite of the delayed replantation. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: This case report helps to add to the literature for treatment plan in avulsion traumatic injuries.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to discriminate between left- and right-hand motor imagery tasks. We recorded the brain signals from two participants using a fNIRS system and compared different feature extraction (mean, peak, minimum, skewness and kurtosis) and classification techniques (linear (LDA) and quadratic discriminant analysis (QDA), support vector machine (SVM), logistic regression, K-nearest-neighbor (KNN), and neural networks with Levenberg-Marquardt (LMA), Bayesian Regularization (BRANN) and Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCGA) training algorithms). The results showed poor classification accuracies (<; 58%) when skewness and kurtosis were used. When mean, peak, and minimum were used as features, QDA, SVM and KNN produced higher classification accuracies relative to LDA and logistic regression. Overall, BRANN led to the highest accuracies (>98%) when mean, peak and minimum were used as features.

ABSTRACT

In this study a novel biodegradable edible film based on Alyssum homolocarpum seed gum (AHSG) was fabricated and characterized. Glycerol at three levels (25, 35, and 45% based on dried AHSG) as plasticizer were added. The microstructure and barrier, electromagnetic, mechanical, and thermal properties of the film were characterized. Results showed that permeability to both oxygen and water vapor, increased as the plasticizer content increased from 25 to 45%. The mechanical properties of AHSG films were comparable to those of polysaccharide films. Results showed that the glycerol content significantly decreased the glass-transition temperature of the film. The color measurement indicated that increasing the plasticizer content augmented the b* and L* values. Results of the field emission scanning electron microscopy revealed a uniform and smooth surface morphology and an absence of phase separation among the film compositions. The findings demonstrated that AHSG has the potential to fabricate edible films with enhanced quality characteristics.
