ABSTRACT

The influence of rotational magnetic field on Walker's carcinosarcoma growth was studied. The antitumor effect of the field was established. In some cases, tumor growth was inhibited by more than 80-90%. The antitumor effect was related to induction value, duration of daily exposure and period of time between transplantation and start of treatment.

ABSTRACT

The efficacy of rotational magnetic field generated by a "Magnitoturbotron" unit was evaluated in 51 women with advanced breast cancer. The effect resulted from an action on the patient's body by modulated rotational magnetic field changing in cycles according to induction. A significant response was achieved in 27 of 51 patients. There was no hemopoiesis suppression, negative functional shifts. The unit is recommended for introduction in a combined treatment of breast cancer.

ABSTRACT

Altogether 217 phyllode tumours, 28 sarcomas and 5 carcinosarcomas of the mammary gland have been studied in the Institute from 1946 to 1980. Three structural variants of phyllode tumour are distinguished: 1) early stages of formation, 2) classical phyllode tumour, 3) phyllode tumour with sarcomatous stroma. 20 out of 28 sarcomas are linked with phyllode tumours while the morphogenesis of primary sarcomas, which are characterized by a more malignant clinical course, remains unclear. When studied electron-microscopically, classical phyllode tumour reveals marked and peculiar vascular proliferation which not infrequently coincides with cellular stroma. Various directions of functional and structural differentiation of stromal cells are observed. The alternation in the tumour of areas with different morphology found in light microscope is reflected by the dependence of the structure of intercellular substance upon the type of stromal cells observed electron-microscopically.

ABSTRACT

The paper deals with the results of application of clinical, cytologic and complex clinico-cytologic procedures of diagnosis of fibroadenoma phylloides mammae (160), sarcoma developing from libroadenoma phylloides (17), carcinosarcoma (5) and stromal or primary sarcoma (7). All the cases were treated at the Institute in 1960-1980. The difficulties involved in clinical diagnosis of these tumors are discussed. Correct clinical diagnosis was made only in 17% whereas benign and malignant tumors were identified in 94.7%. Cytological examination serves to improve the differential diagnosis between such neoplasms. Due to its application, the histological pattern of tumor was established in 30.6% and the benign or malignant nature of tumor--in 81.5%. When a complex clinico-cytologic examination was conducted diagnosis was improved in nearly half the cases (44.9%).
