ABSTRACT

Skip-lot sampling plan is often applied in industries for reducing the cost and effort of the inspection of the product having excellent quality history. Consequence of skip-lot sampling plans is to reduce the cost of inspection so which are more attractive in economical aspect. In this paper, we develop a sampling plan by incorporating the idea of resampling in two-level skip lot sampling plan and the new plan is designated as SkSP-2L.1-R. This paper presents the Markov chain formulation of the proposed plan along with the derivation of performance measures of the plan. We also provide the designing methodology to determine the optimal parameters of the SkSP-2L.1-R plan so as to minimize the average sample number by using two points on the operating characteristic curve approach. By contemplating various combinations of producer and consumer quality levels along with respective risks, a table is constructed to determine the optimal parameters. An industrial application of the proposed SkSP-2L.1-R plan is discussed. The SkSP-2L.1-R with single sampling plan as a reference plan is compared with the conventional single sampling plan, SkSP-2 plan and SkSP-2-R plan and proved that the proposed SkSP-2L.1-R plan outperforms these plans.

ABSTRACT

The existing control chart for monitoring the blood components by attribute is designed using classical statistics. The existing attribute control chart can be applied only when the experimenter is sure about the proportion of defective or all the observations in the sample are determined. In this paper, new attribute control charts for monitoring the blood components under the neutrosophic statistics will be presented. The design of the proposed control chart is given under the neutrosophic statistical interval method. The applications of these control charts demonstrate that the proposed control charts are quite effective, adequate, flexible, and informative for monitoring the blood components under uncertain environment.

ABSTRACT

In reliability theory or life testing, exponential distribution and Weibull distribution are frequently considered to model the lifetime of the components or systems. In this paper, we design a control chart based on the lifetime performance index using Type II censoring for exponential and Weibull distributions. Average run length helps to measure the performance of the proposed control chart. The optimal values of the number of failure items and decision criteria used to decide whether the process is in-control or out-of-control based on the sample results are determined such that the in-control average run length is as close as to the specified average run length values. We simulate the data to illustrate the performance of the proposed control chart.

ABSTRACT

A 25-year-old male presented with features of acute airways obstruction. He was diagnosed to have a lower tracheal mass with near total tracheal obstruction and complete obstruction of the left main bronchus. The tumour was resected successfully using a two-step method of ventilation. Histopathology of the mass revealed it to be a spindle cell sarcoma. Subsequently, local irradiation and systemic chemotherapy was given.
